new businesscards

We are finally working on a new website, and ordered new businesscards today. The older website (prolly done in flash 4) is several years old. New website = new look on biz = new clients.

Social Networks [NETWORKED]

Mark Prasatik of LearningNext hit on the same thought that I had: How is all this social information portable/shareable? Is there a single dashboard interface that unifies all your social networking sites? Is there anyone doing that yet? It also be useful if social networking systems would provide industry specific treemaps or group listing of friends, hobbies, employment history, etc. The wait is on... Ning | Crowdvine

web app cataloge?

Simplespark is low on ratings/comments info, needs a 1-click screenshot of app or website, needs options comparison of selected apps, videos of how to use each app to its fullest potential would be nice. But it has huge potential. It'd also be great to have "how to use" videos for web apps they list.

R.I.P. Proform c630

So our elliptical died last nite. Joy was using it and had 2 mins left of her workout when the pedals went out of sync. We initially thought the belt may have come lose, or something simple. I opened it up and to my surprise, the cheap axle bolt had cracked off the left side of the wheel. I guess its a goner. Now where to donate it for parts?
We bought the thing off Craigslist.org for $150 ($300 new) around October of last year. It was practically brand new - and a good deal for what it was. 7 months for $150 aint bad I guess. But the thing really shoulda lasted longer. That axle bolt is some super cheapo construction. Now we gotta find a better replacement...

Blackberry Killer?

Really interesting video demo on the interface functionality of the upcoming iPhone. And it looks like Google is onboard? If it operates anywhere close as smooth as it is in the demo, then this thing is gonna be hot. Well, depending on the price and the monthly fee. CONS - GPS - it coulda been your onboard driving tool too - but its only 2.5G. Glass screen? How durable is that? Cost??? Video demo | Google onboard? | Google tech

Too much war...

US, Israel finalize Iran strike plans | Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert visited Washington yesterday and met with US President George W. Bush to finalise plans for a joint US-Israel strike on Iran's nuclear facilities. Olmert also met with Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid to obtain their broad support for military action against Iran. Pelosi's comments welcoming the Prime Minister indicate that he is likely to get the backing he is seeking from the Congress. - I told my girlfriend, if we goto war with Iran, Im gonna buy a gun. Second thought - get the heck outta the US! Costa Rica, Peru, etc. - here I come!

Fathers Day

More fun with reasoning, words and sentences from my son this morning. So one of the gifts I open is a Schick Quattro razor. I rarely shave cuz I have sensitive skin, and because I am lazy. Candler begins "Its a razor. So you can shave every morning. And that way you dont get a beard. Ya know where beards come from? Mustaches." Excellent reasoning. We laugh for 10 minutes at least. I also got a Black n Decker 18v drill and saw. Harold would be proud. Much thanks to my girl - Joy.

Jaw-dropping Photosynth demo

http://www.ted.com/index.php/talks/view/id/129 - (7.5mins) Also here - http://youtube.com/watch?v=s-DqZ8jAmv0 - And much more here. My question is, how do they navigate so smoothly with so many hires images? Fast machine with lots o ram? (A: JP2 see below) I also really love the shared meta data capability. It has the potential to change advertising forever. I saw a similar demo back in July of last year: in theory - with 1 photo - you will be able to find where that photo was taken - and look at the surrounding area
http://labs.live.com/photosynth/video.html - I wonder if this would apply to really old photos - of old towns, etc - i guess you could - based upon the natural landscape/elevation. just imagine how this may help gps driving directions etc... you could actually view the drive, landmarks etc before you drive - http://labs.live.com/photosynth/videodemo.html

Similar technology? John Carmack Presents New Technology

UPDATE: My friend Jeff IM'd me: it is unique in a variety of ways....especially if the client-side catches up with the server-side operations and cataloging that is going on. That is why we all need to lobby the browser groups to support the JP2 standard ( which is being used for the picture displays). It is a very practical use of the technology especially the way they have done the algorithm for screen resolution/number photos = slate size and visual data sent to user. Essentially they are only sending data based on viewing area.....not image specific.........zoom in on a region more data for the new resolution is sent...etc, etc. that data is cached (apparently) so if you slowly panned in on every area of the thumnail views of a region....you would have all the data for every image......and there would be no progressive increase in visual clarity.....its all there already -most definitly or a wavelet algorith very similar....with a server-side web process catching the request for the zooms. OPEN LETTER TO REALTORS

Im a little confused with Realtors. Especially the fact that they want a percentage of the sell price as a commission.
What exactly do you guys do to earn $3000 or more dollars for selling or buying a house? And on top of that, you recommend that WE pay for listing services for our house (like FMLS)?!?
I also think that you guys do not play fair. Realtors call me all the time telling me that they have a buyer for my house and want a 3% commission - from me?!? If the person truly wants to buy the house, arent you obligated to sell the house to your client? And from what Ive heard, realtors shy away from the FSBO houses - which sounds like a lawsuit waiting to happen.
If you guys really believe in the things you say, then why hasnt someone taken me up on my offer?
Take my sell price, add the total commission you desire (and all other costs), and relist my house at the new price. And sell my house in less than 90 days.
I am really interested in your response.
FYI - My house is currently on MLS (for free)- 02172545. I cant figure out how to see the listing tho. http://akamushi.googlepages.com/5620 - Owners.com listing

BOOGIE NIGHTS- STAR WARS EDITION

Funny mashup trailer. Enjoy.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c9bKAZDRi4o

Ray "Bubba" Sorensen

The problem is, I agree that the soldiers have it rough, but Im more of the belief that - they are dumbasses for signing up with the military, and also fighting a war for what reasons? Maybe its the guilt that all the republicans have for putting those people in that situation?!? Honestly, if our military was smart, do you think they would be dying and killing others - in a war for unknown reasons? These are the same kind of people that prolly believed in fighting the Vietnam war for so long.

It makes me question their belief system, reasoning ability, openmindedness, and overall understanding of the world. It jades me in a way that makes me almost ignore what comes out of their mouth. I mean, why should I waste my time with anything these kind of people have to say - if they dont even get something as simple as this?

What are we to do when people refuse to open their minds?

Fighting for their Freedom? Sure, I would love to belive that. All the while restricting our freedoms in the US, all in the name of security. I feel like we meddle in so many other countries, that we are just asking for people to hate us.

Sean McCarthy - Update on Steorn 's Free Energy

We still dont know if this technology is real, 22 scientists are working to confirm or deny it, public demos expected in Europe in July and on the web. He mentions shareholders in the latest video, so can we buy stock in this company? If this is real, it will be world changing, that is if some big company or government doesnt swallow or try to put it away. As 360 put it: "Well, it’s either that we’re witnessing the second re-invention of fire, with unthinkable implications for the entire human race... Or we’re witnessing one of the biggest media hoaxes, social experiments or even scams, of our time."

HAIRS WITH A PURPOSE

The respiratory system is made of body parts that are in charge of your breathing. It includes your nose and nasal cavity. You inhale air though your nose. As you inhale, small specks of dirt are trapped by many tiny hairs in your nose. This cleans the air. The hairs stop the dirt from going further in your body. The moist inside surface in your nose traps even smaller pieces of dirt.
So for the first time in maybe 12 years, I trimmed ALL my nose hairs - as short as I could. I always pluck, but I was a little frustrated with the overwhelming growth - so I was like - why dont I just trim all the suckers back? BIG MISTAKE. And now I am writing myself a note - and warning others not to do this. I have been in sinus hell for the last 4 days. And will this not stop till my nose hairs grow back? Thanks for listening. Le Miserab...

music, music, music

I have rediscovered my love for music. My friend Dave Giordano (AKA: DaveMFG, DaveG, the G) is in the ATL from ChiTOWN (Chicago). So I decided to load 4 beastie boys albums to my shuffle in celebration. FYI - new album June26. I dont like the functionality and the restrictiveness of iTunes, so I found a really cool app - Floola - on LifeHacker to load my music to almost any ipod. The Beasties will crank all weekend long!
From Flashguru: Since Teknision put together Finetune Desktop with Apollo, ive been using it religiously. I archived all of the music on my local machine and cleared up a good 20gb of harddrive space, and now i use Finetune Desktop instead of ITunes simply because a) it is free and b) it allows me to put together playlists of my favorite tunes, share them with everybody and play all my favorite tracks on all of my computers without ever having to have those mp3 files on each machine. I can even play them on my Nintendo Wii.
